Devin is doing so well! Doctors did a swallow study to examine if Devin has the ability to perform the task of swallowing and he passed! Katy was able to feed him a bite of yogurt and feed him from a bottle and his reflexes and the swallowing process was a success. They needed to make sure he wouldn't aspirate and that the swallowing function would be properly executed. He has been cleared to eat food! He will remain on the feeding tube just long enough to make sure he is getting the right amounts of nutrition and then they will be able to remove it! PRAISE the Lord!!!
Doctors have re clamped the brain drain as of a few hours ago and Devin's inter cranial pressure is staying low so he may not need the shunt after all. They will continue to monitor his pressures and swelling and will perform a CT scan tomorrow to evaluate his levels.
Thank you again for ALL of your prayers! We are so thankful to be blessed by such a comforting group of people.

ReplyDeleteI do not know the family at all. I found this blog through an online forum, but I pray for little Devin and Katy and the whole family every night. And I catch myself checking for an update several times a day.

Such amazing news! We heard of baby Devin thru a friend at church who requested prayer, and have been following his progress. so happy to hear he's doing better...our prayers continue to be with you and your family...my kids will be so happy to hear Devin is doing better as they have also been praying daily for him too :).
