PRAISE GOD!!!

This has been the POST we ALL have been waiting for and we are SO excited to tell you ALL, that after almost 2 months of being in foster care DEVIN IS GOING HOME!!!!

We don't have any details at this time, we have been on the edge of our seats waiting all morning and just got word via text message from MOMMY Katy and he will be coming home today!!!! As soon as we have more information we will let you know!!!

HOPE

Throughout this journey, all in which we have been deeply affected we have come to know what true faith and hope are. We watched a tragedy unfold and have witnessed and experienced every raw emotion that a human can feel. Whether you are a mother, a father, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, cousin, grandparent, friend or even a stranger you have experienced and felt as every other brother and sister in Christ has felt. Through tears of joy and sorrow, anger and defeat, trust and mistrust, faith and love we have always been united in HOPE! On the eve of the custody trial we are asking for your abundance of love and prayers for Katy, Devin, their families, the attorneys, CPS, and the judge. We beg that you would pray that the Lord will touch every individual involved and that his WILL be done!

Prayer Request

Beloved Followers,

We hope that you are all enjoying this blessed time of year and celebrating the reason for the season! We are all so fortunate to have our amazing God as OUR God, and in just one week we will celebrate the birth of our dear Jesus Christ. We all should be ever so grateful for the grace and truth God provides us with and his undying love and sacrifice that he has for us all.

We would like to ask you all, near and far and all across the world (we have followers in 10 different countries!) to hold a prayer vigil for precious Devin on December 17 @ 6:00pm PST! We ask that our brothers and sisters in Christ come together and lift Devin unto the Lord and pray for his continued healing, but most importantly for reunification and that he be placed back into his mothers loving arms! Please remember that Katy has her custody trial with Child Protective Services on December 21st and we are prayerful and hopeful that the system will reunite Katy with her little boy.

Today!

Hi!

Devin visited the neurosurgeon today and said he is doing amazing! No surprise to all of us!! Ü

The doctor performed a exam and said that Devin's head is healing very well. The swelling has gone down significantly and his incisions are healing very well. He indicated that if the healing and swelling continue to improve then he will likely be able to replace the bone flap in the first week of January. They have another appointment on December 30th and that appointment will determine if they will be able to put the flap back.

They performed a CT scan WITHOUT sedation because Devin is such a trooper. They would normally do a CT scan for a child Devin's age under sedation because they require them to be still, but the doctor decided to give it a try. Low and behold Devin was an angel! With Mommy by is side, speaking soft words of comfort, the few minutes of the scan were complete and he was a perfectly behaved little boy! Results showed that the damaged areas are improving, they appeared to be less dark (for lack of better words) which means they are healing. The areas affected will potentially be able to restore themselves because Devin is so young. With his age on his side his brain will be able to "rewire" itself and the other healthy areas of his brain will potentially be able to compensate for the damaged/affected areas.

Doctors are unaware of the areas in which he may have difficulties. Currently Devin is verbal, babbling, saying Mama, Nana, and mumbling that precious toddler chatter that we all love. He understands speech, can perform some tasks when asked... like giving high fives! He is completely mobile on his left side, and with therapy on his right we are hopeful that he will be able to move those limbs. He is rolling over both ways, trying to crawl and pull himself up! He is eating and swallowing without any problems, sleeping well and cries very minimally! PRAISE the LORD!

We will continue to provide you with information as we get it! Our next BIG milestone is on December 21st. Please pray for Devin and Katy's reunification and that the custody trial will be resolved!

December Update

Hello All,

We have lots to share with you and LOTS of pictures for you to enjoy!!

Katy and Nannie were able to meet up with Devin and his caregiver Ron on Sunday for a community CHRISTmas party. The event is a sponsored event for foster children and their families. They had a FUN filled day! Pictures with Santa, presents, yummy treats, playing in the "snow", meeting Ronald McDonald, sleeping in Mommy's arms and spending precious time with one another.

On Monday, Devin started physical therapy and Gampy (Devin's Grandpa) was able to be at his appointment. The therapist says he is doing very well. They have given the caregivers as well as the family some exercises to do with Devin. Many of the exercises will work on the right side of his body which still remains paralyzed, although they are seeing movement in his right leg and some movement in his right arm. The therapist stated that they are optimistic that he will regain control of those limbs and that they will be able to function properly. Currently the right hand (primarily the fingers) is their only concern. Let's pray that with an increase in therapy and new exercises he will regain movement on that side of his body and God will continue to heal his body and make him well.

Devin's cranial swelling has decreased drastically. His cranial circumference is going down and his body is reabsorbing the fluid in his brain. Devin has appointment with his neurosurgeon on December 9th and this appointment will be crucial in deciding when his bone flap surgery will be scheduled. It will also provide answers to whether he will need the shunt. *Remember in previous posts that if the swelling didn't decrease a shunt was going to be needed to continually drain this fluid.* We are hopeful that it will not be necessary! Please check back in a few days as we will have an update regarding Devin's doctor's appointment that is schedule this Friday.

We also want to remind you that December 21st is going to be here before we know it. This is a very important date! The custody trial that occurred on November 21st was postponed and reschedule for December 21st. This is the day that will determine if Katy and Devin will be reunited with one another. Please pray for their reunification!

Thank you for you constant prayers and well wishes. We hope that you are all enjoying this blessed season and remember how blessed we all are among the hustle and bustle of the holidays! May you all remember the true meaning of CHRISTmas and enjoy the reason for the season!

Mmmmmm COOKIES! Nannie was eating a cookie and Devin decided to take a chunk off and chowed down! This was such an exciting moment because he has primarily been eating soft/pureed food and he did so well eating his yummy treat!

Nannie bought Devin a churro and he LOVED it. He nibbled and smothered the sugar all over his face and thoroughly enjoy every minute! He held onto his yummy treat for over an HOUR!! Ü

So much to be thankful for!

Good Evening All,

We hope that your Thanksgiving holiday was filled with LOVE, JOY and SO much to be THANKFUL for. We have had many things to be thankful for this thanksgiving and continue to be so blessed by everybody's support and encouragement.

The holiday was bittersweet for the Adams family because they were unable to be with Devin, but they were able to visit him for a few hours the day before and had a wonderful visit. Katy is spending every minute she has with him snuggling, loving and playing with her precious boy. He is continuing to heal, grow and THRIVE!! Katy is so grateful to his caregivers and she feels so blessed and thankful to know that they are taking such wonderful care of her little boy.

Katy has visited Devin a few times this week, and was able to go to Devin's first dentist appointment today! She was a proud Momma when she walked out because Devin is cavity free and his oral hygiene is off to a great start. He continues to get more teeth and x rays show that he is getting his first set of molars. Poor little guy, we all know teething is NOT fun.



We also would like to let you all know that Katy has redesigned the ETSY site for Devin's bracelets. She has added LOTS of fun new colors, just in time for your holiday gift giving. These bracelets would make for wonderful stocking stuffers. Ü We know that not only is it a way to show our support for Devin but it also acts as a constant reminder to keep Devin and the family in our prayers. Everytime we glance at our wrist or grab our keys we say a little prayer for our miracle boy!

As we all have begun to move forward with our lives and while we continue to wait anxiously for the reunification of Katy and Devin, we want to remind you to keep them in your prayers. Please pray that God's will be done and that He will continue to heal Devin's body, allowing him to overcome obstacles, and to encourage his determination to show improvements physically, verbally, cognitively and emotionally. Please also keep Katy and the Adams family in your prayers through this difficult time of wait. Please ask the Lord to grant them peace, patience, grace and trust that OUR God will reunite them soon.

May you all be blessed and find peace in your lives.

Update

Family and friends,

We are heartbroken to post this update. Katy arrived at court today very hopeful in getting Devin back and the system has failed them once again.

The court appointed attorney that has been working with Katy went on maternity leave last week and reassigned Devin's file to another individual. This representative felt incapable of making a judgement because he wasn't familiar with the case, so the judge dismissed the case and postponed it for 30 days. Their new court hearing date is December 21st. Katy's personal attorney failed to attend the hearing because of her inability to remember the correct court date and since she didn't attend and was unable to protest the dismissal on Katy's behalf the judges judgement remains concrete. Needless to say, Katy no longer has a personal attorney and will be seeking representation elsewhere and Devin remains in foster care.

We understand that many of you are probably outraged by this news, as are we and so are the Adams family. We need your support more than ever. Please do not let anger and disappointment overcome you. Please turn your frustrations into prayer so Katy can have her precious boy back before CHRISTmas. Please pray that Katy can feel God's peace and LOVE. Please pray that the next 30 days are swift and that the Adams family may find happiness in knowing that Devin remains safe and healthy and our God will make this right in HIS time.

For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do. And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Prayer Request!

Dearest family, friends and WARRIORS,

When we come before God in prayer He sees us. When we come before God in prayer He feels us and most importantly when we come before God in prayer HE hears us.

The Adams family is ever so grateful for your constant prayer efforts but have asked for a huge prayer request. On November 21, 2011 (Monday) Katy goes before the court system and Child Support Services in a custody hearing to determine if Devin will remain in foster care or be reunited with his Mommy. This day has become the most important day in her life right now and we need all of your help. We ask that you pray for their strength, their patience, their understanding but most importantly we ask that you pray for reunification.

Please lift up your requests to the Lord, we know HE hears us. Throughout this process we have all witnessed how the power of prayer changes things. We have watched Gods abundant LOVE in healing Devin and we know how amazing God's love is for us ALL. Without ceasing and without reservation please pray for justice and that Devin will be placed back into his mothers loving arms where he belongs!

God is GOOD!!!

Joy reminds me of a song from my childhood –♪♫♪ I’ve got that joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart … ♪♫♫. Once that song gets into your heart you will be singing it all day! True joy can only be attained as part of the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22). It is that overwhelming sense of comfort and contentment that floods one’s soul. It is the thing that we have when we are walking with the Holy Spirit and mortifying the deeds of the flesh (Rom 8:13 KJV). True Joy comes only when we are focused upon walking with the Lord and esteeming others (Phil 2:3-5 KJV). Katy was able to visit her little guy again today and they had a FUN visit. FULL of giggles and tickles, laughter and joy!

He continues to improve daily and he is the purest testament of God's everlasting LOVE!

Doctor visit update

Devin's appointment with the neurosurgeon went well. He had his sutchers removed and his wound has healed very well. Doctors are planning to schedule a CT scan for the beginning of December. The results from that scan will determine when they schedule his surgery. Overall Devin is continuing to do amazing and his progress continues to amaze us all.

Oh happy day!

Good evening!!

We have a wonderful update for you all. We know how hard it is to let days go by without hearing or reading any new posts. We apologize, unfortunately we are still waiting for the system to work through the details and our only source of information on how Devin is doing is when Katy gets to visit him. Her visits are minimal and not on a schedule so as soon as we get information we pass it on to all of you. Ü We are hopeful and in constant prayer for a quick resolve so that Devin can be reunited with Katy soon. Until then, we are grateful to know that Katy is able to visit Devin and spend time with her little boy.

Today they had a wonderful visit. Devin was full of smiles, babbling up a storm and once again proving he is that little miracle baby that we all have come to love! Devin was quite the show off today, standing tall with assistance while playing with table toys, having tummy time and ROLLING both ways from back to tummy and tummy to back! He also was kicking BOTH legs while laying on his tummy! Yes you read that right... He's moving his right leg! They are overjoyed with these improvements and are so excited to see where time and God's healing will take this precious boy.





Katy is now allowed to participate in Devin's doctors visits. She goes tomorrow with Devin's foster family to meet with a neurosurgeon to potentially remove his sutchers and discuss his bone flap surgery. When we have detailed information regarding the results of his visit and when surgery will be scheduled we will notify you.

Lastly we would like to add that we appreciate your continued encouragement and prayers. While the posts have been less frequent and all of our lives are continuing to move forward we would like to ask you to continue your support for Devin and his family. We would like that you stay focused in your prayer warrior efforts. Please keep Katy in your prayers as she is still having a difficult time and misses her sweet boy every second of everyday. Please pray that they can be reunited soon! Pray for Devin that he continues to thrive and grow in his abilities and that God will continue to guide this little boy. Please pray for our justice system and family law system to resolve this case quickly so they can be together again.

Special Visit

Hello All,

Katy had another special visit with Devin! They were able to visit with him on Friday and he is doing VERY well! They spent their time playing, cuddling, laughing and bonding with Devin. Devin is showing good signs of improvement. He immediately recognized Katy and gave Mommy BIG smiles when she came to see him. They played on the floor and while Katy was holding Devin up, he was able to put weight on his legs and attempted to take THREE!! steps, before he started to fall! These are once again MIRACULOUS signs of God's grace and the healing that he continues bless this precious boy with. Ü

Devins head is healing very well. His inisicion looks very good and they will be removing his stitches soon. They plan to schedule the bone flap surgery for sometime this month and we will notify you all when we have a scheduled date. ALL of your PRAYERS will be needed and greatly appreciated.



We would also like to THANK YOU for the amazing amount of support we have received with the "Devin" bracelets! Katy and Kaitlyn (Devin's Godmother) are BUSY BUSY BUSY getting these made and sent out! We hope you enjoy them and will use them as a constant reminder to pray for Devin and his family.

Please continue to pray for Devin's healing, but MOST importantly that Devin and Katy can be reunited soon. We pray for their reunification and ask that you would ask God to bless the CPS individuals trying to resolve the case and that they are able to find a resolution quickly so that precious Devin can be back in his Mommy's loving, comforting and healing arms!

She was able to visit Devin on Halloween and brought his costume to play a little dress up! Devin looked wonderful and recognized Katy with a smile right away. He LOVED his costume. They giggled, laughed and played for a short period of time. While she was holding him on her lap he was able to put pressure on his legs and support some of his weight. Such a good sign that he is getting stronger. We are all SO excited to watch him get stronger and increase his mobility. Keep up the GOOD work Devin.

A Mother's Love

Love is patient; love is kind. Love is not jealous; is not proud; is not conceited; does not act foolishly; is not selfish; is not easily provoked to anger; keeps no record of wrongs; takes no pleasure in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth; love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.

There is no greater love than that of a mother to her child. Today was a beautiful representation of how much Katy loves her son. Katy was granted a supervised visit with Devin today! She was able to visit her precious little boy for a short period time, which was filled with LOVE, cuddles, smiles and joy. Katy says that Devin is doing very well, continues to thrive and is continuing to be her miracle boy.

Katy was able to meet the foster caregiver and her husband and feels confident that they are taking wonderful care of her little boy. While this was such a blessing and joyous day, it still brings heartache and devastation to the Adams family. To have to get up and walk away from her little boy has caused more pain than most of us can ever imagine.


Please pray for Katy. Pray that the Lord will provide her the strength and courage she needs to get through this difficult time. Please pray for Devin's safety and his continued healing and for the amazing caregivers that are caring for him. And wholeheartedly pray for a quick resolve to this devastating situation and that Devin and Katy will be reunited soon!

There is no place like home!

Dearest Family, friends, beloved followers and prayer warriors,

It is bittersweet that we are writing this post to you today. We are overjoyed that Devin has been released to go home and doctors believe that he is well enough to leave the hospital and begin his long road to recovery, but we are brokenhearted that he doesn't get to begin his recovery with his Mommy.

On September 27, 2011, Devin celebrated his birthday with his Mommy Katy, Nannie (Robin who is Grandma) and other family members in the Adams family. They had the most amazing day filled with joy, happiness, love and celebration of their precious little boy. That evening, Robin (Devin's Grandma) took Devin to his father’s house and dropped off a perfectly healthy HAPPY little boy so his father could see him on his birthday. It wasn't long after, that Robin had been notified that Devin was being rushed to the E.R at Pomona Valley hospital, which at the time was being described as shortness of breath according to Devin's father’s family who were responsible for Devin at the time. At the hospital doctors came to the conclusion that he had sustained severe trauma to the back of his skull resulting in 2 fractures, brain swelling and bleeding of the brain. Tests later revealed that he suffered a stroke on the left side of his brain, leaving the right side of his body paralyzed. They removed the left side of his skull to allow for swelling and at the time they didn't know if he was going to survive.

29 days ago we didn't know what Devin's prognosis was going to be or if he would even survive this horrific abuse. He has become our miracle baby, has been a true testament to the power of prayer and God's willingness to prove that He has a purpose and a plan for all of us. Devin is currently able to move his left side completely, he is visually stimulated, can focus his attention and can recognize his loved ones. He pulls at our faces, primarily our noses, and tries to put his hands in anyone’s mouth! He is hearing voices and able to respond, he is able to sit up if someone supports his right side, has full mobility of his neck and is able to lift his hips. We were able to visit him on Sunday and he is a completely different child from 2 weeks ago even right down to BIG smile that fill our hearts.

During the past few weeks we have witnessed people giving their hearts to Lord, repenting their sins and Devin's story has truly affected thousands of people. We have received hundreds of comments, emails, texts and messages all of which have touched the Adams family in an immeasurable way. We are ALL so grateful for the support that you show and we ask that you continue to help encourage and lift up this little boy and the Adams family as this tragedy continues.

The investigation began, all parties involved were questioned, there were multiple meetings, forensic investigators and detectives began their investigation to determine who was responsible. Doctors have clearly stated that the injuries that Devin sustained were not accidental.

There were MANY sleepless nights, we have all had our opinions or suspicions and have had LOTS of questions, but in order to give the authorities respect for the situation we have all tried to be patient and give them time to unravel the truth.

Yesterday the Adams family's world came tumbling down, the custody hearing was scheduled and all parties were to be at court at 9:30. Katy and the Adams family walked in confident, with the support of their lawyer, and discussions from their CPS social worker. Katy met with her lawyer at the court house, and the unimaginable happened, the lawyer, advised her that according the paperwork from the authorities that she was still being named as a suspect and that Devin was going to be placed in protective custody and was going to foster care.

It wasn’t a minute later that the social workers, as well as other authorities were in Devin’s hospital room, removing him from a family friend and handing him over to foster care. Katy and the Adams family were not able to say goodbye to their baby boy. Katy is absolutely devastated, she doesn’t know where Devin is, who the person is that is supposed to be taking care of her little boy or if he is ok. She has not spent a night away from Devin and is completely broken hearted. She is the ONLY person that Devin should be with, she knows how to take care of him, she has been the constant strength for Devin, the reason he is thriving and doing so well and they belong together!

We are asking that you continue your prayers, please BEG God to help us find justice, to bring this baby back to his Mommy. Please pray for the woman that has custody of Devin, that she has gentle hands since he is SO fragile, he still does not have the bone flap back protecting his brain. Pray that she protect this little boy and love him as her own until he can be back in his mother’s loving arms. Please pray for Katy and the Adams family, pray for their strength, understanding, and peace and let them feel God’s love.

We also ask that you all continue to have FAITH through this horrible tragedy.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not upon your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your path. Proverbs 3:5-6

Weekend news...

Devin is continuing to show signs of improvement! He has giggled from stimulation and is smiling a lot more. He is responding to noises and voices and appears to be focusing more. He has spent some wonderful bonding time with his family and close friends over the past few days and Katy spent much of the day cuddling with her little boy. She is trying to console him as his teeth are causing him a lot of pain since he is still teething. Poor little guy has swollen gums and is not a happy camper. Although, he has found new entertainment and his favorite thing to do is rip off Katy's glasses! Anything to keep him occupied is fine by Mommy!

Doctors are still unable to provide any detailed information regarding what Devin's limitations are going to be. We still need all of your prayers and we are so appreciative of your encouragement and support during his difficult time! Please continue to prayer for Devin and his family!

Mini update...

Devin received his helmet last night! This helmet will help to protect his head as he starts to move around more. It will also act as a shield for the left side of his head to protect his brain since they removed the bone to allow for the swelling. We are still waiting to find out when the bone flap surgery will take place, but will keep you posted. .

Devin has been moving his neck from side to side, can move the left side of his body, is starting to lift from his hips while on his back and his tummy. He is showing some signs of movement on the right side of his body, especially when he gets frustrated. Ü
