His surgery went without incident and there was no evidence of any complications. Initially due to the nature of the surgery doctors were concerned that he may suffer another stroke while removing the skin (because it had adhered to his brain) but there was NO evidence of stroke and Devin is doing all the things he was capable of doing before surgery!
His incision looks wonderful considering he has 55 stitches from the front to back of his scalp. **Please beware, if you get queasy from pictures do not scroll down** They expect that he will have severe swelling over the next few days and he will possibly have a black eye.
Doctors and nurses are monitoring him as he has been throwing up all day... poor little guy! Let's pray that the Lord would calm his tummy and help flush the anesthesia from his body so he can get on the road to recovery quickly! He will not be sent home tomorrow due to this issue, because they want to make sure there are no complications.
Please pray for rest for both Devin and Katy and that Devin will feel the Lords comfort as he recovers!

Katy: I feel so blessed to have met you and your beautiful baby boy this afternoon at Loma Linda. My grandson, Ryan, was sharing a room with Devin and you were kind enough to let me hold this beautiful child and marvel at his beauty and strength. You and Devin will remain in my prayers. ReplyDeleteBaby Devin has lost this skull now. ON Sunday after the surgery he woke up with almost 103.9 temperature. We broght him back to Loma linda Hosp. He had his surgery yesterday the 9th.The infection was so very bad, we don't the kind of infection but it was a bad one.He will be another week or so and then go home with intravenous IV. After he is well they will make him another new skull. This was his 5th surgery in one year we pray that the next skull will work and we can get on to Phsical therapy. Devin needs prayer to recover, to learn to walk, fine motor skills, to use his hand and to perfect his vision. We hope he will start speach therapy soon as he does not speak. The dr said he has lost his congnitive skills and just pray that the brain will rewire itself. Thank you all you caring prayer warriors around the world, love Robin (nannie) and family.
