Hi!
Devin visited the neurosurgeon today and said he is doing amazing! No surprise to all of us!! Ü
The doctor performed a exam and said that Devin's head is healing very well. The swelling has gone down significantly and his incisions are healing very well. He indicated that if the healing and swelling continue to improve then he will likely be able to replace the bone flap in the first week of January. They have another appointment on December 30th and that appointment will determine if they will be able to put the flap back.
They performed a CT scan WITHOUT sedation because Devin is such a trooper. They would normally do a CT scan for a child Devin's age under sedation because they require them to be still, but the doctor decided to give it a try. Low and behold Devin was an angel! With Mommy by is side, speaking soft words of comfort, the few minutes of the scan were complete and he was a perfectly behaved little boy! Results showed that the damaged areas are improving, they appeared to be less dark (for lack of better words) which means they are healing. The areas affected will potentially be able to restore themselves because Devin is so young. With his age on his side his brain will be able to "rewire" itself and the other healthy areas of his brain will potentially be able to compensate for the damaged/affected areas.
Doctors are unaware of the areas in which he may have difficulties. Currently Devin is verbal, babbling, saying Mama, Nana, and mumbling that precious toddler chatter that we all love. He understands speech, can perform some tasks when asked... like giving high fives! He is completely mobile on his left side, and with therapy on his right we are hopeful that he will be able to move those limbs. He is rolling over both ways, trying to crawl and pull himself up! He is eating and swallowing without any problems, sleeping well and cries very minimally! PRAISE the LORD!
We will continue to provide you with information as we get it! Our next BIG milestone is on December 21st. Please pray for Devin and Katy's reunification and that the custody trial will be resolved!
May you all find joy in your days and be ever so grateful for God's grace and LOVE for us all! Have a blessed weekend and we thank you for your support. "I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together."
Psalm 34:1-3

Hi Katy and family,
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazingly positive update. God is so good. Devin is living proof of that. Praise the Lord:) Our prayers will continue as we anxiously await the reunion of mother and son. We love you.
I'm constantly brought to tears when I read about how far Devin has come given his initial prognosis. I thank God for answered prayers and miracles because we truly are seeing him perform a miracle in Devin before our very eyes. Praise God! Always praying.

This was such an inspiring update. This story and the grace that this family and followers have maintained is beyond words. I am so proud to be a part of this amazing array of faithful people. I have learned not only about myself throughout following this precious child's story but about how truly blessed we all are as we come together for the greater good and pray to HIM regardless of circumstances. This is about Devin. Finding power in the miracles that have been given, the marvels that continue and finding peace and acceptance under very painful and difficult circumstances to all involved. GOD be with you all. xo
ReplyDeleteI am so very happy to hear such positive news about Devin. He is truly a little angel and very blessed. I will continue to pray for him and the reunification with his mommy soon.
